Last Thursday, we went to the SPACE, an agricultural trade show, located near Rennes in the west of France, in Brittany. About 110,000 visitors from all over the world were expected. There were 1,300 exhibitors from 30 different countries. We saw cattle (bétail) exhibits from different breeds (races) : Pie Rouge, Prim'Holstein, Montbeliard, salers... and even Simmental which is an old local breed from the centre of France. We could also see sheep, goats, horses and ponies, poultry (chicks in hatcheries (couveuses)), rabbits... Apart from the animals, there were a lot of farm machinery : new trailers (remorques), improved tractors, ploughs (charrues), seed-drills (semoirs), mowers (faucheuses), manure (lisier), tankers, etc. We were impressed by the big size of these machines. Then, we attended to conferences about the European Common Agriculture. What we enjoyed the most was the opportunity to meet professionals from the agricultural sector. We appreciated as well the presents (pens, T-shirts, caps...) that we received!! To conclude, it was a good introduction to the agri-supply market.
